Melih GEÇEK Appointed as General Manager of İSTTELKOM INC.
Melih Geçek, Technology Coordinator of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), has been appointed as the General Manager of İSTTELKOM Inc., İBB’s telecommunications infrastructure subsidiary. Nihat Narin, İBB’s Head of Retail and Technology Group, who was serving as Acting General Manager of İSTTELKOM Inc., handed over the role to Melih Geçek.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Nihat Narin stated: “This is a relay race. As someone who knows the İBB family and its structure very well, I believe Mr. Melih will bring significant contributions, vision, and momentum to İSTTELKOM. I wish him success and hope his new role will be beneficial.”
New General Manager Melih Geçek said: “İSTTELKOM is a pioneering institution with strong technical infrastructure and human resources. Our goal is to create more added value for Istanbul, İBB, and our country in the field of digital transformation and telecommunications by developing innovative solutions.”
Who is Melih Geçek?
Born in 1981 in Istanbul, Melih Geçek graduated from Marmara University’s Faculty of Technical Education, Department of English Electronic and Communication Teaching in 2003. He completed his studies in Management Information Systems at Anadolu University in 2022 and earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Nişantaşı University in 2023.
Between 2001 and 2009, Geçek provided IT consultancy services to various companies. He served as a consultant and project manager for digital transformation and smart city projects supported by the European Union, World Bank, and Asian Development Bank in 12 countries and 60 public institutions. In 2009, he founded his IT consultancy firm, offering training in cloud technologies and introducing over 500 companies to cloud-based solutions.
In 2019, he took on the roles of İBB Presidential Advisor and İBB Technology Coordinator, playing a key role in establishing and managing the İBB Technology Desk, which develops technology projects for İBB, İSKİ, İETT, and its subsidiaries.
As of October 2024, Melih Geçek has been appointed as the General Manager of İSTTELKOM Inc. He is a father of one and speaks English fluently.
