‘INTERNET’ IS NOW AVAILABLE IN IMM METRO
Free IMM WiFi service commenced on M2 Yenikapi-Haciosman Metro Line operated by IMM. Istanbul residents taking this line will enjoy free internet during the trips. The works are underway on other lines.
Istanbul residents began to use internet service on the subways operated by IMM. The initial test was carried out successfully on M2 Yenikapi-Haciosman Metro Line. The Metro lines, which have been closed to communication for a long time, resumed offering internet services. Istanbul residents who take this line will continue to enjoy free access to the internet during their trips.
The works are underway to offer free internet service in other metro lines, as well.
The decision for internet service in the metros, which was taken by the IMM council in October, was put into practice firstly on M2 Yenikapi-Haciosman Metro Line.
2 million of our citizens travelling on the metro every day will be able to enjoy the internet. All passengers will also be able to make voice calls on their smartphones by using the free WiFi service of IMM.
The project will also make a significant communicative and financial contribution to the idle capacities of the GSM companies and other private institutions investing in the metros.
Internet infrastructure in the subways is of critical importance in terms of transportation for the residents, especially in case of emergencies, earthquakes, etc.
