Aiming to support the students in their endeavor to embrace the digital domain and facilitate their access to information, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) expands the IMM WiFi free-of-charge internet service quota at the libraries. The WiFi quota will be increased to monthly 150 GB. This implementation will be launched on the Teacher’s Day on November 24.

Wishing to contribute to the students with no internet access at home or experiencing difficulties in accessing remote education, IMM expands its IMM WiFi service quota at the libraries to a monthly total of 150 GB with a daily 5 GB quota. The service will be available at 17 libraries with IMM WiFi points across İstanbul and the students will be able to benefit from the free internet as they prepare for their exams or conduct research for their courses. With the new implementation to be launched on the Teacher’s Day on November 24, all students and citizens will enjoy the fast and secure internet experience for their personal development and digital training purposes.

4 MILLION USERS

Service quality of IMM WiFi has been boosted through a strengthened infrastructure and the number of its subscribers reached 4 million. Presently, IMM WiFi delivers services to average 100 thousand users per day at 7 thousand and 679 access points and the number of the subscribers is planned to be increased with additional locations. An average of 3 thousand and 700 hundred domestic and 700 foreign users are registered daily to IMM WiFi.

To users only need to connect to the IMM WiFi’s wireless network via their smartphones, tablets or laptops at the internet points to enjoy free internet services.
