FREE INTERNET SERVICE FROM IMM TO VILLAGES
Aiming to support students and citizens who have problems with internet access in rural neighborhoods, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) is establishing IMM WiFi points in village squares, mukhtars’ offices and information houses. The internet installation of 9 villages has been completed within the scope of the project.
Continuing its efforts to strengthen and expand the internet infrastructure of the city, IMM addressed the internet problem in rural areas. IMM intends to provide additional support to the increasing distance education needs of students due to the pandemic with free IMM WiFi internet points planned to be established in a total of 151 locations.
THE INTERNET INSTALLATION OF 9 VILLAGES HAS BEEN COMPLETED
Efforts are also underway to prevent students from being victimized by impossibilities. With the project, which is implemented for citizens living in rural areas and children who have problems with distance education because they have no internet at home in villages, all students and citizens will be able to benefit from a fast and safe internet experience for personal development and digital education opportunities.
As a result of the work done, internet has been installed in Alibahadır, Poyrazköy, İshaklı villages affiliated with Beykoz; Kestanelik, Çanakça, Dağyenice villages connected to Çatalca; Hüseyinli village of Çekmeköy and Akören and Seymen villages of Silivri. In the first phase of the project, this number will be increased to 50 villages within a month.

Fully aware that providing equal opportunities in education is an important social municipality responsibility, the project aims to facilitate the lives of citizens and support all children whose education is challenged by financial difficulties.
