DISASTER PRECAUTION FOR IBB DATA
IBB (İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality) is launching the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) project in order to protect city’s data against disasters. Through the project, the data will be regularly backed up in Ankara. In the event of major disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and fires in Istanbul and the region, critical public order activities will continue uninterrupted.
The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) project is being implemented within the scope of the works carried out by IBB’s Directorate of Information Technology Department and IBB telecommunication infrastructure subsidiary company ISTTELKOM A.Ş. The project aims to ensure that the important data stored within the IBB Data Center are backed up regularly in Ankara against earthquakes and other major disasters, and that they are securely protected and available when needed.
The new structure formed will protect the data of critical public order activities in the event of major disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and fires in Istanbul and the region, and will make a significant contribution to the sustainability and recovery of the city.
WE HAVE LEARNED LESSONS FROM EARTHQUAKES
Stated that they will back up the data of all units of IBB, Erol Özgüner, Head of IBB IT Department, said, “Through the Disaster Recovery Center project, we are taking the data of IBB and its subsidiaries under special protection against large-scale disasters and other cases of emergency crisis. August 17th Marmara and the major Hatay earthquakes have been an important experience for all of us. The new system will strongly support IBB to provide citizens with uninterrupted service in cases of disaster.”
