WITH OVER 4 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS, IMM WiFi PROVIDES SERVICES AT 3 THOUSAND AND 713 LOCATIONS AND 7 THOUSAND AND 679 ACCESS POINTS. A MONTHLY AVERAGE OF 200 TERABYTES OF DOWNLOAD AND 25 TERABYTES OF UPLOAD ARE CARRIED OUT AND EACH SUBSCRIBER IS GRANTED 30 GB FREE INTERNET PER MONTH. PROVIDING HIGH-QUALITY, FAST AND SECURE INTERNET SERVICES, IMM WiFi AIMS TO EXPAND ITS SERVICE NETWORK FOR ENABLING MORE INTERNET ACCESS.
Having built Turkey’s largest free internet service network, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality provides the IMM WiFi service across the city. The IMM WiFi service quality has been increased with the reinforcement of its infrastructure and the number of its subscribers exceeded 4 million. IMM WiFi presently performs IT services at 3 thousand and 713 locations and 7 thousand and 679 access points. The number of the service’s users is aimed to increase further through the addition of new locations. IMM WiFi service brought the IMM a grand prize as an organization contributing to the ecosystem in the Smart Cities category of the Telecoms World Award 2020.
HIGH-QUALITY, FAST AND SECURE INTERNET
The IMM WiFi service provided by the IMM at locations intensively frequented by people such as public transport vehicles, squares, parks, piers, libraries, cultural centres, universities, sports facilities and touristic attractions offer a high-quality and secure communication experience to the citizens.
FREE INTERNET NETWORK TO BE EXPANDED
Providing free-of-charge IMM WiFi service at numerous points for enabling internet access for more people, IMM aims to carry this service to every part of the city. The free internet service launched for healthcare providers and patient companions at the BELTUR cafes in the hospitals during the pandemic continues. Besides, the quota-free and free-of-charge internet campaigns carried out at all national holidays and special days will remain. The students are the greatest users of the IMM WiFi service.
MONTHLY 30 GB FREE INTERNET
IMM WiFi hotspots offer a total of monthly 30 GB free internet service with a daily speed of 2 megabytes and one-gigabyte quota. Approximately 100 thousand users receive internet services from IMM WiFi per day except for the pandemic period. A monthly 200 terabytes of download and 25 terabytes of upload are carried out in average.
HIGHEST NUMBER OF CONNECTIONS AT ISTIKLAL AVENUE
Among the foreign visitors of Istanbul, the IMM WiFi is mostly used by the visitors from Russia, Germany, Iran and the United Kingdom. The points with the highest number of internet connections are Istiklal Avenue at Beyoğlu, Sultanahmet Square, Kadıköy, Eminönü Square and Taksim Atatürk Library.
EASY ACCESS TO INTERNET
Ones wishing to enjoy free internet services can easily access the IMM WiFi network via smartphones, tablets or laptops at the internet points.
NUMBER OF ACCESS POINTS INCREASED
The number of access points increased despite the statements claiming the decrease in the number of IMM WiFi access points. Due to the termination of Havaist vehicle services (99), and the off-season of the Marmarcık Camp (12) and Umraniye Summer Scout Camp (3), the internet services were terminated at three locations and a total of 114 access points. However, 396 access points have been launched at 134 new locations. In June, the internet service was performed at 3 thousand and 579 locations and 7 thousand and 282 access points. On the other hand, in October, the service reached 3 thousand and 713 locations and 7 thousand and 679 access points with the inclusion of new service areas.

Two thousand and 372 buses, 535 metrobuses, 312 public utility premises, 64 parks, gardens and groves, 69 squares, 64 terminals and stops, 55 BELNET and IMM Public Relations vehicles, 42 subway stations, 45 sports facilities, 36 recreational facilities, 18 BELTUR cafes at hospitals, 20 avenues, 17 libraries, nine touristic attractions, 10 ISMEK centres, eight theatres, three universities and three concert halls and ten other facilities.
