3.8 MILLION USERS HAVE REGISTERED WITH IBB WIFI

IBB, establishing Turkey’s largest free internet network, has shared IBB WiFi statistics with Istanbulites within the scope of transparent and accountable municipalism. The infographic published by IBB includes daily, monthly and annual usage information about IBB WiFi.

Increasing its service quality with its reinforced infrastructure, the number of IBB WiFi subscribers has reached 3.8 million.

Approximately 65 thousand users are served daily with 200 terabytes of uploading and 30 terabytes of downloading with IBB WiFi on average per month.

IBB WiFi, which currently serves at 3,735 locations, is expected to further increase the number of users with new locations that are being planned.

30GB FREE INTERNET PER MONTH

Users are offered a 1 Gigabyte quota at a speed of 2 Megabits per day and a total of 30 GB free internet service per month at IBB WiFi hotspots.

Citizens of Russia, Germany, Iran and England are the most frequent foreign users at IBB WiFi points while the most frequently used connection locations are Beyoğlu İstiklal Caddesi, Sultanahmet, Kadıköy, Eminönü Square and Taksim Atatürk Library.

WE AIM TO EXPAND THE IBB WIFI SERVICE IN ALL PUBLIC AREAS

Stating that they are continuing their efforts to make Istanbul an exemplary world city with high quality of life in every field, IBB Information Technologies Department Director Erol ÖZGÜNER said; “As IBB, we aim to expand the IBB WiFi service offered at many different points free of charge in all public areas in Istanbul”.

A STRONG COMMUNICATION INFRASTRUCTURE IS NECESSARY TO BUILD A BRIGHTER FUTURE

Nihat NARİN, General Manager of IBB WiFi services communication infrastructure provider İSTTELKOM Inc. said:

“We aim to include high-quality, high-speed internet access throughout the city with our work. Istanbul residents will be able to benefit from the opportunities offered by information technologies more effectively with this process. Building the main infrastructure of a sustainable communication infrastructure that will carry Istanbul into the future and a strong communication infrastructure is essential to build a brighter future.”

Quality and secure communication opportunities are offered to citizens in public transportation vehicles, squares, parks, piers, libraries, cultural centers, sports facilities and touristic social areas where people are concentrated with the IBB WiFi service provided by IBB.
